What does a garage door tune-up cost?
A full garage door tune-up is $99.95, and that is the whole visit — it is the one thing on our price list with no service call added on top. We go over the door properly: the moving parts that wear, the balance, and the hardware that works loose over a few thousand openings. You get told what we found, including when what we found is that nothing needs replacing yet. What the tune-up covers
Every point on this list, on every visit, whatever we find. It is also the answer to why this costs more than a service call: a service call is an inspection, a diagnosis and a written quote, and a tune-up is all of that with the work done as well.
- We run the door through a full cycle and watch how it opens and closes.
- We inspect every component: rollers, cables, springs, shafts, bearing plates and tracks.
- We check the tracks are level, and adjust them if they need it.
- We lubricate the rollers, gears, bearings, chains, belts, hinges and springs.
- We tighten the bolts, nuts, lags and hardware that work loose over a few thousand openings.
- We adjust spring tension, chain and belt tension, and the opener’s limits and force.
- We check the opener runs properly and that the photo-eye safety sensors work.
- We inspect the safety settings and the counterbalance system.
- We clear debris out of the tracks and away from the sensors.
- We check for peeling paint and rust.
- We note anything wearing, and the condition of the weatherstripping.
- We adjust the drive gears, chains, belts and moving parts.
You get it in writing, including when the answer is nothing
Every tune-up finishes with a full written report: what we checked, what we found, and anything we would recommend repairing, replacing or keeping an eye on. If the door is in good order and needs nothing, that is what the report says — we would rather write that down and have you call us next year than invent a job to fill the page.

Is the tune-up really all-inclusive?
Yes. $99.95 covers the visit and the work, with nothing added afterwards and no service call on top of it. If we find something that needs a part, you get that price separately and you decide.How often does a garage door need a tune-up?
Once a year suits most doors, and more often if the door is opened several times a day or the garage is unheated. A door that gets used twice a day can go longer. We would rather you asked us than booked one on a schedule you do not need.Will a tune-up stop my spring breaking?
No. Maintenance will not prevent a spring from breaking — they fail from use rather than from neglect, and they usually give no warning — but keeping them properly lubricated can extend the life of the ones on your door.Is it worth it if the door works fine?
Often, yes, and that is exactly when it costs least. A door out of balance runs its opener harder every day without sounding broken. That said, if we come out and find nothing worth doing, we will tell you that and you will not hear from us again for a year.Do you add sales tax to a tune-up?
No. Kentucky does not tax this work, so the figure is the figure. Nothing is added at the end.
